The brilliantly engineered BMW B48 engine coming as a 4 cylinder 2.0 turbo. One of our favourite engines here for tuning, a very underrated engine in the BMW range coming in all various models badged as the 20i in both the F & G Series. We have developed on this engine from the earlier MEVD17 control unit right through to both MG1 variants of it. This engine in our opinion has such a vast tuning potential that it is also used as the petrol engine in the combined hybrid models of the 330e.

Stage 1 calibration:

280-290BHP & 400-420NM

 

Mandatory:

  • Completely stock vehicle (Zero modifications required)

 

Optional Additions:

  • Induction kit
  • Catback exhaust
  • Gearbox map (Auto models only)

Stage 2 calibration:

  • 300-310BHP & 440-460NM

 

Mandatory:

  • Downpipe decat or sports cat exhaust (T&C's Section 3)
  • Induction kit
  • Uprated intercooler
  • Uprated charge pipe
  • Gearbox map (Auto models only)

Please note figures will vary from vehicle to vehicle the above quotes are from what we achieved on many occasions but as we all know every engine is different.


Here we show a great example of both the stages taking place on a very healthy example of the B48 engine in form of the F30 320i. This was an excellent example of a B48 engined 320i brought to us from stock and covering over various hardware and tuning stages. The graph defines what we have achieved within stages 1 & 2.


Stock:

177BHP & 197Ftlb (267NM)


Stage 1 Calibration:

280BHP & 300Ftlb (406NM)


Stage 2 Calibration:

313BHP & 327Ftlb (443NM)

We recommend to all of our customer prior to tuning these engines to if not already recently done, to have a fresh set of OEM sparkplugs fitted.
